Breeders' Cup World Championships

North America's season-ending championship: 14 Grade 1 races in two days and a Classic that ranked among the world's top three races in 2025.

Why it is here

The 2025 Breeders' Cup Classic rated 125.50 and ranked 3rd among all Group and Grade 1 races worldwide; the Turf (41st) and Mile (47th) also made the IFHA Top 100 (IFHA, 2026-01-20). Forever Young became the first Japan-based horse to win the $7 million Classic, at Del Mar (Sports Illustrated). The 2026 edition is at Keeneland on 30–31 October, with 14 Grade 1 races worth more than $34 million (Keeneland, 2026-04-21), and BloodHorse describes the qualifying series that feeds the two-day event (2026-10-02). Welfare context: HISA's 2025 figures list Keeneland, the 2026 host, at 1.83 racing fatalities per 1,000 starts (5 from 2,737), against a national rate of 1.04 (HorseRacingNation with HISA release, 2026-03-24). Score drivers: sporting level 9.6 from the Classic's 3rd-place IFHA rating and three races in the Top 100; prestige 9.2 from the global field the Japanese winner shows. Exclusivity, social and experience are not scored: no independent evidence this period.
