Tattersalls October Yearling Sale (Book 1)
Europe's premier yearling sale, which in 2026 produced a European record colt and record spending by Godolphin.
Why it is here
Book 1 turned over 126,516,000 guineas in 2026, just 1% below 2025 despite 11% fewer horses sold. The average rose 12% to 359,420gns and the median almost 10% to 230,000gns, with an 85% clearance rate. Godolphin spent a record 26,910,000gns on 25 yearlings, more than one guinea in every five (Racing Post, 2026-10-08). On day one Godolphin paid 4.6 million guineas for a Night Of Thunder colt from Norelands Stud, a European record for a yearling colt and the most expensive yearling sold anywhere in the world this year (Thoroughbred Daily News, 2026-10-06). Score drivers: prestige 9.4 from record prices and the top international buyers; exclusivity 9.3 from a select catalogue at a 359,420gns average. Sporting level, social and experience are not scored. 2027 sale dates are not listed because none were confirmed in the sources reviewed. Not investment advice. This entry ranks the sale as an event and a market venue; it is not a recommendation to buy a horse or to treat bloodstock as an investment. Past sale prices do not predict future values.
