MARS Badminton Horse Trials
Eventing's most famous five-star, and the site of a record-breaking third win for Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo in 2026.
Why it is here
Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo became the first rider-and-horse combination to win Badminton three times since the event began in 1949, finishing on 25.7 ahead of Tim Price and Falco. Canter was competing 16 weeks after giving birth to her second child (BBC Sport, 2026-05-10; Horse & Hound, 2026-05-10). Horse and Rider reports the £125,000 winner's prize and describes the event's 77-year history (2026-05-10). The 2027 edition runs 5–9 May (Badminton Horse Trials). Score drivers: prestige 9.4 from its history and status as one of the sport's flagship five-stars; sporting level 9.4 from the record-breaking winning partnership, which BBC Sport calls the most decorated horse in eventing history. Exclusivity, social and experience are not scored. No welfare incident at the 2026 event was reported in the sources reviewed.
Who it is for
